Culture: the Heartbeat of Business

Here's Why I Prioritize It Every. Single. Day!.

Let me say this loud and clear: culture is not an afterthought—it's the lifeblood of a healthy, thriving company.

Over the years, working with companies of all shapes and sizes—from e-commerce dynamos to logistics powerhouses—I've seen one thing hold true across the board: when the culture is strong, the team is stronger. And when the team is stronger, the business wins. Period.

Here's how I build (and protect!) a healthy culture, both in my business and when helping clients create traction in theirs.

1. I Hire for Heart—Not Just Skill

Sure, resumes matter. But let me be real: values trump skillsets every time. I only bring people into my world—whether team members, clients, or collaborators—who are true Core Values Matches.

That means:

  • They believe in transparency and don’t sugarcoat the truth.

  • They’re encouragers (no mean girls here, ever).

  • They’re committed to growth—even if it’s just by 1% every day.

  • They care about people, the planet, and profits. (Yes, it’s possible to do all three.)

When we focus on hiring the right people, we create a team that’s not only aligned—but energized.

1.1 ...But Let’s Talk About the Right Seat, Too

It’s not just about who you hire—it’s about where you place them. Even the most talented, values-aligned person will struggle if they’re in the wrong role.

That’s why I go deeper than job titles or gut instinct. I use tools like Working Genius and Kolbe to uncover someone’s natural strengths and cognitive wiring. These assessments help me and my clients make sure we’re putting people in seats that set them up for success—not stress.

  • Working Genius helps identify which parts of the work process energize someone (Genius of Wonder? Enablement? Galvanizing?). It’s a game-changer for building balanced teams.

    • As a Working Genius Certified Consultant, if you ever have questions or want to run a Working Genius Training, I'm happy to help!

  • Kolbe reveals how someone naturally takes action—are they a high Fact Finder, a Quick Start, or maybe an Implementor? This helps us predict how they’ll show up in the role, under pressure, and in a team dynamic.

When you combine a core values match with a role that taps into a new team member's genius zone, you don’t just hire—you unlock potential.

Right People + Right Seats = Culture Gold.

2. We Don’t Just Work Hard—We Play Hard Too

One of my non-negotiables? FUN.

Fun is not a bonus. It's a building block. I bake joy, play, and personality into everything—from team meetings to client calls. That might look like themed Zoom calls (yes, costumes encouraged), local foodie field trips, or surprise “cancel-the-agenda” connection sessions.

Why?

Because people who genuinely like working together will always go further—and faster.

2.1 Themed Meetings = Serious Biz + Serious Fun

Even when your team is scattered across time zones, you can still bring the party to the pixels.

🤠 Costumes? Yes.

🔊 Playlists? Absolutely.

😂 Laughter? Mandatory.

Remote doesn’t have to mean blah—let’s make meetings the highlight of your team’s week! 💻🎊

3. Personal + Professional Growth Is the Goal

My core value “Here We Grow Again” isn’t just cute. It’s intentional.

I believe in growing whole humans—not just employees. That means offering tools, coaching, and leadership development alongside permission to be themselves, to chase what lights them up, and to step fully into their genius.

Whether I’m leading a quarterly planning session or coaching 1:1, I always create space to ask:

"What do YOU need to grow this quarter?"

(And then we build a plan to get there.)

4. Encouragement > Ego

Culture thrives in an environment of psychological safety. I don’t do power trips, shade, or performative leadership. I believe in lifting each other up, supporting through challenges, and celebrating wins both big and small.

When we lead with support and encouragement, we build a team culture that’s magnetic. People stay longer, innovate more, and bring their full selves to the table. That’s the good stuff.

Here's the Bottom Line

Healthy cultures don’t happen by accident—they happen by intention.

I’m on a mission to help Visionaries build businesses that are joyful, sustainable, and people-first. Because when your team is aligned, your culture is alive, and your values are lived out loud—magic happens.

And trust me: you can have a high-performing team and have fun doing it.

If you're ready to build a culture you’re proud of—where people thrive and results follow—I’d love to help. Your dream team is not far away. Let’s make it real. 💥
