đ How to Keep Teams on the same page (Even When Theyâre Remote)
âGreat teams donât happen by accident â they happen by design. Especially when your only âwater cooler is a Zoom call.â
Hey there, fellow Visionaries and Team Leaders! đ
I see youâyouâre leading a remote team, juggling Zoom calls, Slack notifications, Rocks, and still trying to make sure everyoneâs rowing in the same direction. Iâve been there (more times than I can count).
The good news? Keeping teams aligned and accountable remotely is possible. And it doesnât have to feel like herding digital cats. Let me show you how I help my clients (and my own team) create clarity, culture, and connectionâeven across time zones.
đ Part 1:
Keeping Remote Teams Aligned
1. Weekly Virtual L10s + an Energy Check
During your weekly EOSÂŽ L10s, start with a simple âenergy checkââeach person shares how theyâre doing on a scale from 1â10. Itâs a quick pulse check that creates space for honesty and connection.
đĄ And because I love a little flair? Ask them to drop a GIF or emoji that captures their mood.
2. Shared Scorecards that Everyone Can See
I build scorecards that are front and centerâthink Ninety, Trainual, ClickUp or Airtable dashboards that update live. Use colors to show progress: green means weâre rocking it, yellow means weâre getting close, and red is our cue to dig in and problem-solve.
3. Celebrate Core Value Champions
Each month, ask your team to nominate someone who has really lived the companyâs core values. Give them a shout-out during the L10, in Slack, or even via a virtual high five. It creates ownership, alignment, and a little well-earned love.
4. Connect-TV: Async Video Updates
Use a tool like Loom to create a 30-second to 2-minute mid-week check-in video to send to your team so you can stay connected without the long boring emails.
5. âSame Pageâ Coffee Chats â
I block time with Visionaries and team leads for intentional âSame Pageâ meetings. Itâs not all about the agendaâbut having an agenda is a mustâitâs about catching misalignment before it derails momentum. To add a bit of fun periodically, I will email a gift card for coffee to my team so we can bring our favorite drinks to our Same Page.
đ Part 2:
Creating Measurables (KPIs) That Drive Accountability and Maintain Alignment

Letâs be honest: KPIs can either drive accountability or collect digital dust. I chose the first.
1. Reverse-Engineer from the V/TOÂŽ
I always trace KPIs back to the Vision and the Rocks. If we say weâre focused on retention, the KPI might be "a % of clients with scheduled check-ins"ânot just some random number.
2. Host a KPI Hackathon
Schedule a separate 60 to 90-minute workshop with each department team to define what winning looks like in each role. We break it down:
Whatâs most important in this seat?
What actions move the needle?
đ Bonus points:Â I throw on some music, break the team into mini brainstorm rooms, and even offer a prize for the best KPI.
3. Use Working Genius to Guide Ownership.
When I match KPIs to someoneâs Genius, accountability becomes natural. People want to own the metrics that fit how theyâre wired.
4. Play the âMeasurables Match Gameâ
For fun (and clarity), Iâll create a quick team game where we match job behaviors with the right KPI. Itâs a silly way to make sure everyone gets what theyâre trackingâand why it matters.
5. Throw KPI Naming Parties đ
I believe people connect better with KPIs that are actually fun to say. Wouldnât you rather track your âClient Love Scoreâ than âNPSâ? Me too!
đĄ Here's What I Know:
You donât need to be in the same room to build a high-performing teamâyou just need structure, visibility, and a little creativity. Whether Iâm coaching a $1MM team or helping a $50MM company roll out EOSÂŽ, this is the stuff that moves the needle.
If your teamâs feeling stuck or a little foggy, these tips will help you find traction, and đŞ make your vision a reality.
â
With clarity + courage,
Lisa
